The Perfect Bed

About 15 years ago, I purchased my first king sized bed with new sheets and a down comforter. I had been given new beds when I was growing up, an extra long twin, a double bed, and a waterbed. Although, it had been sometime since I had anything new at least 10 years.

That First Big Bed Purchase as an Adult

The mattress and box springs were easily purchased with the help of a salesman. I must say that I thanked the bed gods almost every night for about 8 years. The reason I stopped thanking the bed gods was on account of the mattress starting to sink in the middle, which was partly due to the bed frame offering only an inch and a half support and the box springs were off center (lack of support) and the other was mostly likely due to natural deterioration.  I waited much too long to purchase my next bed, which was about a year ago.

THE NEXT BED PURCHASE

This time, I was not as fortunate. The salesman was in a hurry to sell, he did not ask enough questions and led me into a bed that was too soft, which made my back hurt from lack of support. After a month, I requested a new replacement. You might wonder why a whole month? The salesman suggested that it takes 21 days to adjust to a new mattress. Guess what? My back still hurt after 21 days.

After the 21 day period, I went to see the salesman who sold me the mattress and box springs. There were two other choices, medium firm and extra firm. The salesman said that I could not return a second time and suggested the most firm mattress that the mattress line had to offer. I was reluctant, but I did not want my back to hurt. So, I got the most firm mattress. One year later, my back does not hurt and I can sleep through the night, but it is not THE PERFECT BED. It is too firm. Not cozy at all.

In order to get the perfect bed, one needs to find the sales person that is patient. You can not know what you want in the BED world by merely laying on a bed for a few minutes in a store. The big question is: which bed is the perfect bed for you?  You can however  discuss what you want over a period of 2 weeks or more and also when shopping make  sure that the return policy is worthy. It is too costly to be stuck with a bed that is not making you happy in all areas a bed should.

In addition to finding and buying THE PERFECT BED, sheet, comforters, duvets and toppers are all important.  The Charter Club Brand is sold in Macy’s and is prettt amazing, as are Martha Stewart’s linen selections, and  The Hotel Selection also sold at Macy’s.

Some people might find these brands too expensive. If you are looking for comfortable sheets at a cheaper price, Costco and Walmart both sell and higher- end sheet set @ 50.00, compared to 100.00-250.00 or more per set.

In my opinion, never ever settle when it comes to sheets, comforters, duvet covers, pillows and of course obtaining THE PERFECT BED.
